Low Productivity Old-Growth Forests
Here's a gallery of low-productivity coastal old-growth forest. These are the old but stunted forests growing in bogs at low elevations, on rocky mountainsides, or in sub-alpine landscapes. These forests now constitute more than half of the remaining old-growth forests on BC's coast and are generally of little to no commercial value. The BC government regularly inflates their figures of remaining coastal old-growth forests by hundreds of thousands or millions of hectares by including these forests in their statistics, along with the productive old-growth forests with large trees (also known as "ancient forests"). It's like including your Monopoly money with your real money and then claiming to be a millionaire.
